Messy Church – we hope to get Messy again, as soon as it’s safe to do so!
Messy Church is a fun and down-to-earth “way in” to church and the Christian story for children and their families. We aim to be creative, learn, enjoy ourselves, worship, pray and celebrate God’s love together.
Each Messy Church session involves simple craft activities and games all based around a particular Christian theme or story from the Bible. The experience is designed to be relaxed with no pressure to have to do everything. The sessions end with songs, a story and simple prayer, followed by a simple meal.
Messy Church happens around 10 times a year rotating round St Christopher’s, St Paul’s, Withington Methodist Church and East Didsbury Methodist Church. Our themes have included:
The Good Shepherd, Seaside Stories, The Christmas Story, Joseph, God’s Creation, the Lost Son and Growing.
- We heard the story of the sower and the birds eating the seeds
- We thought about the sower sowing seeds
- Out theme was growing!
- We thought our own homes and remembered that God is always ready to welcome us home
- In the story of the Lost Son we remembered that God is always ready to welcome us!
- The Lost Son had the job of looking after the pigs!
In October 2018 our theme was St. Francis. A big thank you to all who came and helped at St. Christopher’s and to the lovely children and their parents and carers. We made lots of animals and birds!
